What Judges Are Looking For

The Next Gen Award is a student-only category for active students with a .edu or equivalent email address. It recognizes the best student-built app submitted with a demo video and public open-source code.

Unlike most Shipaton categories, this one does not require a paid Apple or Google developer account, and no App Store or Google Play release is required.

What To Include

  • A demo video showing the app working.
  • A link to a public open-source code repository.
  • An open source license file in the repository.
  • A clear description of what you built, what it does, and why it matters.
